Enjoyed this podcast very much, thank you. One thing I do is at the end of each rehearsal, is I get everyone in a circle and ensure no-one stands next to another person of the same part. That gets the communication going

      Thanks Denise,

Really pleased you enjoy the podcast, we always enjoy putting them together and discussing a range of choir related topics.

That’s a great idea re the circle you create at the end of the rehearsals and something I also find very helpful. It’s a really good way for singer’s to experience the full choir sound. I’m sure you have as much fun as I do trying to get everyone to stand next to someone not on their part but it’s all worth while and the choir leave on a high.

    Hi Christine and Victoria,

I found your website a few months ago and just love it!! I am a co-director of a women’s barbershop chorus of 70 members and am just coming to the end of my 3rd year in this role. I was a general chorus member, section leader and assistant director before stepping into the role of front line director. I have been in my group now for 15 years.

I am UK born but am now a New Zealander. I have just finished listening to your podcast and really enjoy listening to you both. For one, your accents make me think of home ( and I sound very similar to Christine!!). I can relate so well to your content and it gives me more ideas and a greater confidence with many aspects of being a choral leader.

Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and expertise, it is much appreciated XXX

Thanks for your kind words Kate. I’m really pleased to hear that the site is so helpful for you. We love what we do and really enjoy making the podcasts and content for the website. I’m glad the podcasts provide a reminder of home!

Sounds like you belong to a very well established choir. I think it’s great that you worked up through the ranks before becoming leader as this gives you a real insight into every aspect of the choir and what it’s like from a member point of view. This is something that many of us who start our own choirs can only do by imagining ourselves in our singer’s shoes.

We do hope you continue to enjoy the website.
