3 big frustrations that inspired our choir music store

Our music arrangements for community choirs are now available, free and exclusively, to members of Total Choir Resources.

At Total Choir Resources, we're proud of the work we do to help and support choir leaders all over the world. Our latest innovation is our digital music store. As this exciting project continues to grow, we are introducing arrangements from a range of amazing composers. But what led us to the idea in the first place? Actually, it was born out of intense frustration when we were trying to choose and buy music for our choirs.

Getting hold of copies

Most music for choirs is priced 'per copy', which means that you have to buy a copy for each member of your choir. So unless you have the funds to buy spare copies, you'll have to go back and purchase extra when new people arrive in your choir. Each time you revisit past repertoire, you will have to think about how many of your members weren't with you the last time you covered it and thus how many additional copies you need to buy. This can make it hard to keep track of your budget for each piece.

Creating rehearsal tracks

The benefit of having rehearsal tracks for your choir is massive. It enables singers to support their learning in rehearsals with study at home and gives them the opportunity to develop their skills and come well-prepared for rehearsals. We had to make rehearsal tracks for our choirs for every piece of music we bought, which was time-consuming.

Viewing options

Don't you hate it when you want to assess a piece of music for your choir, but you can only see and listen to a tiny excerpt? What's happening in the rest of the piece? Are the lyrics appropriate? Is there an insanely high note that your choir won't be able to sing?

Many musical arrangements are only available in print form. You might prefer to view them on a digital device but instead end up with what seems like hours of printing and endless reams of paper to sort through.

Hi there Devan. Thanks for your interest in our music store. We changed our business model a year ago so that most of the music we offered in the store is now included in our membership for choir leaders: Community Choir Professionals.
