#177 FROM THE VAULT: Why community choirs matter

In this episode, we’re looking back at one of our favourite podcasts where we talk about why choirs are so important to their members and communities.

As we re-publish this episode, we’re all in lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic and our choirs can’t get together.

But what’s reassuring is that all the things we talk about in this episode, the reasons that our singers and our wider communities benefit from what we do, can be sustained while we’re forced to stay distant from each other.

We hope this episode helps you to hang in there, because this crisis will end, and we will sing together again.

Thank you for this reminder. Sadly, at this time we have to make do with Zoom; not all our singers feel able to participate for whatever reason so it is harder to fulfil that need for belonging that we all have. It does however, give us, as choir leaders an opportunity to learn from others and to see what works for us and what doesn’t and I salute the bravery of all those offering online singing

Thanks for your comments Celia, there’s certainly so much sharing of ideas and quick learning so we can give our choirs the best possible experience online. Like you say it’s not for all but it really makes a difference to those able to join in.
